Tax Relief Assistance Programs

The Salt Lake County Treasurer’s Office oversees several tax relief programs available to qualified homeowners.

 

Circuit Breaker Tax Abatement

Treasurer

The Circuit Breaker tax relief program assists eligible elderly homeowners by reducing property taxes on their primary residence.

Indigent Relief (Abatement)

Treasurer

Homeowners may receive an abatement which is the smaller of the maximum homeowner's credit or 50% of the remaining tax due after deducting other relief.

Hardship Relief

Housing Stability Resources

The County continues to support housing stability through the Salt Lake County Stability Fund and the Housing Trust Fund, and continued support from our Housing and Community Development Team.  

Eviction Prevention and Mediation

Utah Community Action offers eviction prevention and mediation services, including funds for arrear rental and utility assistance, and solutions to resolve eviction cases without legal intervention.

Legal Representation and Consultation

Legal representation and consultation for issues such as eviction notices, unlawful lockouts without court orders, safety-related repairs, and false claims of abandonment by landlords.

Housing Asset Manager

The Housing Asset Manager oversees rental inventory, manages relationships with landlords to expand housing options and works on establishing local fair housing practices that landlords can adhere to.
