Open Space Acquisitions
For many years, this land was home to Gene and Deane Wheadon’s farm. At the farm the Wheadons raised poultry, tomatoes, peppers, alfalfa, and it was best known in its later years as Gene's pumpkin patch. In 1997, Gene partnered with Utah Open Lands to have the farm placed under a conservation easement. Salt Lake County purchased the property in 2008 committing to keep the land open to the public and honor its agricultural tradition. The park opened to the public in June 2016.
