The Taylorsville Senior Center provides an atmosphere for people over the age of 60 to increase social opportunities, improve and/or maintain health through good nutrition and exercise, enrich their minds, develop their talents, provide services as volunteers, and improve their overall wellbeing.

Welcome to the Taylorsville Senior Center

The Taylorsville Senior Center is a joint operation of Taylorsville City and Salt Lake County.  The facility is owned by Taylorsville City and operated by Salt Lake County Aging & Adult Services staff.

The site of the Taylorsville Senior Center was originally Plymouth Elementary. The planning for the  Senior Center started around 2001 by Taylorsville City Mayor Janice Auger.  Construction was completed in August of 2002.  The grand opening and ribbon cutting was held September 26. The open house was attended by County Mayor Nancy Workman, City Mayor and Taylorsville City Council members. Aa group of marines helped with the flag raising and the master of Ceremony was Channel 5 news’ Bruce Lindsey. During the first month the Senior Center signed up around 1000 new members. After 12 years, a 3500 sq. ft. addition was completed in September 2014. This new space provides more room for exercise classes, expands the exercise equipment room and opens up more space for other classes.

The center provides a wide range of programs and classes. Some of our regular classes are Enhance®Fitness, chair aerobics, photography, crocheting, wood burning, computers, Brain Gym and Move It Move It. Other programing you will find throughout the month includes health and wellness presentations, monthly health topic focuses, trips, and entertainment (please see calendar for specifics). Open daily for use at your leisure, we have, a billiards room, fitness machine room, ping pong, horse shoes, Wii games, and computers. Whether you enjoy classes and fitness or you are just looking for an opportunity for socialization, the center is geared to fulfill these needs.
