Mayor Jenny Wilson Shares State of the County Address

SALT LAKE COUNTY, UT—Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson delivered her 2025 State of the County address today at the Clark Planetarium in downtown Salt Lake City. In addition to focusing on the numerous opportunities available to Salt Lake County residents, businesses, and visitors, Mayor Wilson touched on the uncertainty and fear currently felt by many residents. 

Mayor Wilson emphasized her commitment to bipartisan collaborative efforts that identify additional resources to hold criminals accountable and to better manage our border. She also stressed the importance of creating a path to citizenship for taxpaying, long-term residents who contribute to our economy, our communities, and our congregations. 

2025 Priorities:

  • Modernize workforce, systems, and public spaces
  • Revitalize downtown Salt Lake City through the development of a Sports, Entertainment, Culture, and Convention district
  • Boost Salt Lake County’s out-of-state visitor economy
  • Ongoing reinvestment in arts, culture, tourism, conventions, and indoor and outdoor recreation
  • Sustainable building and management
  • Attainable, affordable housing
  • Continue collaborative implementation of the Salt Lake County Human Services, Homelessness, and criminal Justice Action Plan
  • Improve public safety, reduce repeat offenses, and criminal justice reform
  • Connect residents with free or low-cost County services and programs

Recognizing the costs involved in raising a family, and the value of access to affordable engaging experiences and healthy opportunities, Mayor Wilson announced the launch of saltlakecounty.gov/family. This dedicated web page details free to low-cost Salt Lake County activities and resources for children, parents, and families. It also includes a map of county amenities around the valley and resources for individuals and older adults.
