The Lead Prevention Program will protect children in Salt Lake County by reducing exposure to lead and increasing awareness of where it can be found in everyday products. The program will focus on educating families, including those new to the area, about common sources of lead such as older paint and paint chips, antique or imported cookware like pressure cookers, certain spices, traditional eye cosmetics such as surma, kajal, or kohl, jewelry, and contaminated soil around homes. By providing safer alternatives and clear guidance, the initiative aims to prevent lead related health issues and support healthier home environments. This effort will help ensure that children and families have the knowledge and resources needed to stay safe and avoid preventable harm.
