Privacy Guidance for AI
Salt Lake County uses artificial intelligence tools to support government services while protecting privacy and sensitive information. County employees are trained to avoid entering personally identifiable information (PII), case data, or other non-public county information into external AI systems unless those tools are officially approved and meet security requirements. Only the minimum necessary information is used, data is anonymized whenever possible, and AI outputs are reviewed for accuracy and policy compliance. AI is used to assist staff work while maintaining strong privacy, security, and professional oversight standards.
