Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office Files Charges against Mr. Jeffrey Black relating to the death of South Salt Lake Police Officer David Romrell

 As alleged in our probable cause statement, On November 24, 2018, South Salt Lake Police officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress. When police arrived on the scene Mr. Black was in the passenger seat of a car attempting to flee the scene. In the process of fleeing, the car struck Officer Romrell and lead to his death. After the vehicle crashed, Mr. Black fled and was found hiding inside of a boat not complying with orders from law enforcement. 

The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office is charging Mr. Black with: Murder, Robbery, Obstructing Justice, Attempted Burglary, and Fail to Stop at Command of a Law Officer. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Mr. Black without bail. All people accused of a crime are innocent until proven guilty.
