Yesterday, in the interest of promoting a thorough and transparent process, Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill requested the Federal Bureau of Investigation to review and evaluate the Officer Involved Critical Incident (OICI) protocol investigation and DA review and conclusions of the August 13, 2017 use of deadly force against Patrick Harmon.
District Attorney Gill also offered the District Attorney’s Office complete cooperation with any other investigation or review the FBI may undertake.
Attached is DA Gill’s letter to the FBI requesting the review. Gill said: “In order to be thorough, and given the seriousness of the case and the considerable public interest in the matter, all issues must be completely examined to preserve the public’s trust in the criminal justice system and ensure the right measures are taken in this case.”
