Darwin Christopher Bagshaw Pleads Guilty in 2012 Murder of Anne Kasprzak
Salt Lake City, UT - The Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office announced today that Darwin "Chris" Bagshaw has pleaded guilty to one count of Murder in the Third District Court for the 2012 murder of Anne Kasprzak. Sentencing is scheduled for April 25, 2016 at 2 p.m. before Judge Blanch.
Kasprzak, who was 15 at the time of her death, was reported missing from her Riverton home on March 10, 2012. Her body was discovered the following day in the Jordan River.
The charge, a First Degree Felony, carries a sentence of 15 years to life. Bagshaw, now 18, was a minor at the time of Kasprzak's death. The District Attorney's Office filed a motion on Oct. 15, 2014 to certify Bagshaw as an adult in the Third District Juvenile Court. After preliminary and certification hearings, the Court granted the motion, allowing Bagshaw to be tried as an adult in the Third District Court. The trial was scheduled to begin on March 7, 2016, before Judge Blanch.
The Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office extends its gratitude and appreciation to the Draper Police Department, Unified Police Department and all agencies that diligently assisted in the investigation and prosecution of this case.
