Response from District Attorney Sim Gill to Justin Miller's Statement Regarding Salt Lake County

This morning, Justin Miller pleaded guilty to a second-degree felony relating to money he stole from Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams' campaign. Mr. Miller claimed he is "accepting responsibility" by admitting guilt for criminal conduct he has publicly and vigorously denied for months.

Unfortunately, in his statement, Mr. Miller again attempted to deflect from his own felonious misconduct by claiming he is cooperating with an "ongoing federal investigation into Salt Lake County." I have personally spoken with the United States Attorney's Office and the FBI. I have offered to make the County available to any inquiries, but I have received no such requests. Based on my conversations with those agencies, Mr. Miller's claim is incorrect and I have no reason to believe there is an investigation of Salt Lake County.
