SLCo DA announces manslaughter charge filed against Matthew Scott Alder in death of Arthur Folasa Ah Loo at SLC No Kings Rally

Today, Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill announced one count of second-degree felony filed against Matthew Scott Alder for the fatal shooting of Arthur Folasa Ah Loo at the No Kings rally on June 14, 2025.
 
Charges were screened against Arturo Roberto Gamboa; however, those have been declined.
 
“We appreciate the patience of the family of Mr. Ah Loo and the community as our office went through the screening process. We grieve the loss of Mr. Ah Loo as a husband, father, and active member of our community,” said Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill. “We appreciate the thorough investigation carried out by the Salt Lake City Police Department and appreciate their cooperation throughout the screening process. All persons accused of wrongdoing are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law."
