Recreation Bond

Salt Lake County voters initially authorized the Zoo, Arts, and Parks (ZAP) tax in 1996. The revenue created is used in accordance with legislatively authorized and formula-prescribed purposes. In coordination with each authorization by the voters for ZAP, Salt Lake County also placed general obligation (GO) bonds on the ballot in 1996, 2007, and 2016. These bonds are used for new parks, trails, and other eligible facilities. Salt Lake County intends to ask voters to re-authorize both the ZAP tax and a corresponding GO bond in the 2026 election cycle.
