WHAT: The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and the Salt Lake County Office of Regional Development, will host a free tire inspection and traction law sticker event to help residents prepare for winter driving conditions in the Cottonwood Canyons.
As winter weather remains unpredictable, traction restrictions may be activated in the Cottonwood Canyons at any time. This community safety event is designed to help drivers prepare in advance to improve winter road safety, reduce preventable crashes, and minimize traffic delays and road closures when snow conditions occur.
Community members are encouraged to register in advance at slco.to/traction.

Participation is free and voluntary. Stickers are NOT REQUIRED to drive in Big or Little Cottonwood Canyon. Vehicles that meet traction requirements receive a windshield sticker indicating they are properly equipped when the Traction Law is in effect.
