Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office Identifies Individuals Involved in Little Cottonwood Canyon Plane Crash
Little Cottonwood – On August 31, 2025 at approximately 5:21 p.m., a small aircraft containing two occupants, identified as Christopher Marx, 55, and Alex Dulude, 40, crashed in the Albion Basin area in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Alta Marshalls, Unified Fire Authority, and witnesses recreating in the area were first to respond.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered Christopher Marx deceased. Alex Dulude was airlifted by Air Med to the University of Utah hospital. Dulude remains at the hospital in critical condition.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are expected to complete their on-site investigation later today. Once the FAA and NTSB are finished at the scene, the area will reopen to the public.
