SALT LAKE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE RELEASE NAME OF MAN WHO DROWNED IN THE GREAT SALT LAKE’S DUCK MARSHES
GREAT SALT LAKE, October 24, 2024 — On the night of October 22, Vince Badger,
70, and Kenneth Hill, 81, and a dog, were duck hunting in the Duck Marshes of the
Great Salt Lake. While both men were out of the boat retrieving duck decoys, Mr.
Badger noticed Mr. Hill face down in the water.
Mr. Badger was able to retrieve Mr. Hill and bring him to a nearby island where he
performed CPR. Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area for a possible
drowning.
A collaborative operation between Star 8, DPS, Salt Lake City Fire, Salt Lake City
Police, and the Sheriff’s Office were able to locate the men and recover the boat with
the dog.
Mr. Hill passed away on scene, while Mr. Badger received medical treatment on site.
The dog and boat were turned over to family. The investigation is still ongoing.
