Salt Lake County Treasurer Sheila Srivastava to Present Overview of Property Tax Bills at County Council Meeting
Salt Lake County, UT - To address common questions about property tax notices, Salt Lake County Treasurer Sheila Srivastava will provide an overview of the line items on homeowners' property tax notices.
WHAT: Tax Notice Presentation from Treasurer Srivastava
WHEN: Tuesday, October 28, during the County Council Meeting at approximately 3:30 pm
WHERE: Online or in person: Salt Lake County Council Chambers, North Building, 2001 South State Street, Room N1-110
Key Information
-
Every property tax notice (aka, bill) includes multiple service providers. Each property tax bill covers an average of 8-10 service providers that collect taxes, including county, city, school district, and service districts such as water, fire, and mosquito abatement.
-
Salt Lake County's portion is about 17% of the total bill. The County's proposed 2025 rate adjustment (equal to about $7.28 a month for the average homeowner) applies only to this portion, not the full amount of the tax bill.
-
Other entities set their own rates. Cities, school districts, and special service districts determine and approve their own property tax rates independently of Salt Lake County.
