Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson’s Statement in Response to ICE Operations Around the Nation and the Status of a Proposed ICE Detention Facility in Salt Lake

Salt Lake County, UT— “ICE overreach has created unrest and compromised security and safety in many US communities, including an additional death today in Minnesota. I am deeply relieved to hear that the Ritchie Group will not sell or lease a warehouse in Salt Lake City that was a designated site for an ICE detention facility. A facility that potentially houses 7,500 detainees has no place in an urban area and I strongly support a more guarded and humane ICE operation.”
