Salt Lake County Civic Museum Urban Plein Air Exhibition Celebrates Utah Artists and the Vibrancy of Downtown Salt Lake City

Salt Lake County, UT—The Salt Lake County Civic Museum, in partnership with The Blocks, presents Urban Plein Air, a new exhibition featuring 17 works by local artists at the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City.

The public is invited to an opening reception on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. The exhibition will remain on display through March 21, 2027.
The Civic Museum is a project of Salt Lake County Art in Public Places, in partnership with local nonprofits and government agencies, to host rotating exhibitions that celebrate our community's diverse culture, history, and shared stories.

The Urban Plein Air exhibition features artworks from The Blocks summer Plein Air program, which paired 17 local artists with iconic Downtown buildings to capture the city’s character. Originally displayed individually in each building, these pieces are now united in one exhibition.

“The Plein Air artists turned the city’s architectural icons into visual stories, now brought together in the Civic Museum exhibition to celebrate Downtown’s iconic character.” Lucas Horns, The Blocks Program Director.

“Urban Plein Air brings Salt Lake City to life, capturing its energy, architecture, and cultural identity through the eyes of these talented local creators.” Kate Ithurralde, Salt Lake County Art in Public Places Manager.
