Salt Lake County's budget process begins each August, when the Mayor and her finance team meet with County departments and independent elected offices to review service needs and costs. The Mayor presents a balanced budget to the Council in October. The Council then reviews the proposal, holds public hearings, and may change the final amount before voting on it on December 8.
