Salt Lake County, UT—This weekend, the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office and the Unified Police Department will be continuing their holiday tradition, spreading Christmas cheer to families in need through the Shopping with the Shield event. This year, the event brightened the lives of over 35 families and more than 120 children.
What: Shopping with the Shield
When: December 14, 2024, 07:00-10:00 am
Where: Wal-Mart -7250 South Union Park Avenue, Midvale, Utah
Shopping with the Shield is made possible thanks to the generous personal donations from employees of both the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office and the Unified Police Department. As a token of appreciation for their contributions, participants get in return a chance to grow beards, dye their hair tips, or express creativity by decorating their fingernails.
"This event is a true reflection of the compassion and generosity of our team," said Sheriff Rosie Rivera. "It's an honor to see our employees and community partners come together to bring joy to children and families during the holiday season. The smiles on the children's faces are priceless, and it's moments like these that remind us of the true spirit of the holidays.
During the event, officers, deputies, and civilian employees paired with children and families to help them shop for the perfect gifts for their loved ones. The experience served as a heartwarming reminder of the power of giving back and the joy of making the season bright for others.
The Sheriff's Office and UPD are appreciative to their amazing partners at Chick-fil-A and Walmart for their support in making this event a success. Their generosity helped ensure every child and family received the holiday spirit they deserved.
Both the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office and the Unified Police Department are available for media interviews to discuss this annual holiday tradition and will be there on the day of the event.
