Age-Friendly Community

Salt Lake County is now officially recognized as an AARP Age-Friendly Community through AARP's Livable Communities initiative. This designation highlights the County's work to create a place where people of all ages can thrive—through things like mixed-use zoning, safe and diverse transportation, and a range of housing options.

This new designation gives the County access to helpful resources, research, and support to improve policies and make investments that benefit older adults and families.

Through a range of existing initiatives—from wellness programs and social engagement opportunities to efforts that help people age in place and stay connected through accessible, welcoming public spaces—the County is working to ensure that older adults can thrive.
